iCSEF conference report


CSEF’s first international conference on Sustainable Energy and Resource Use in Food Chains (iCSEF) was held on 19-21st April. 

The event took place at the Beaumont Estate Hotel in Windsor and welcomed over 100 delegates from across the world.  The delegates took in over 70 papers and keynotes across the three days. The conference proceedings will be published online by Elsevier.

Conference themes were production, retail, processing, consumption, distribution and food policy with a symposium on heat recovery and waste heat. The conference brought together delegates from a range of different engineering, natural and social science disciplines.

Overall, the conference showcased the wealth of research being done in the food energy field and the huge potential for reducing energy demand in this industry to help meet global emissions targets.
