CIED Co-Director made AcSS Fellow

CIED Co-Director made Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS) Fellow

On 5 April 2018 the AcSS announced they have conferred the award of Fellow to Professor Frank Geels, Co-Director, Centre on Innovation and Energy Demand (CIED).

Professor Geels was among fifty-eight new Fellows drawn from academics, practitioners and policymakers across the social sciences who were recognised for the excellence and impact of their work through the use of social science for public benefit.

Professor Geels commented:

I am humbled and honoured by this recognition of my academic work on socio-technical/sustainability transitions (which aimed to place a new topic on the agenda of innovation studies and environmental social science), my organizational work on building a new academic community (the Sustainability Transitions Research Network), and my interactions with policymakers with an interest in sustainability transitions (e.g. European Environment Agency, OECD, Climate-KIC).

Announcing the conferment, Professor Roger Goodman FAcSS, Chair of the Academy said:

Each new Fellow has made an outstanding contribution in their respective field and together they demonstrate the vital role played by social science in addressing some of our most pressing public issues. We are delighted to welcome them to the Academy.”
